Navid Shahnaz

Associate Professor

Navid Shahnaz is Associate Professor of Audiology in the School of Audiology & Speech Sciences.  He began his position at University of British Columbia in July 2002.  Before joining the University of British Columbia he was an Assistant Professor of Speech and Hearing Sciences at University of Arizona. He received his A.Sc. and B.Sc. in Audiology at Iran Medical Sciences University. Before joining McGill University (Canada) to pursue my studies he was working as a clinical audiologist, instructor, and researcher for six years at Tehran Medical Sciences University and in other private practice sectors in Tehran, Iran. He also served as an editor of first Iranian journal of Audiology.

After joining School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, McGill University in 1993, he completed his clinical masters program as well as the research program in Audiology and became CASLPA (Canadian Association of Speech-Language pathology and Audiology) certified audiologist in 1995. His Master’s thesis, entitled “Standard and Multifrequency Tympanometry in Normal and Otosclerotic Ears was published in August issue of Ear and Hearing journal in 1997.

Upon his acceptance into the Ph.D. program at the same University, he developed his proposal based on my Master’s thesis to replicate previous findings and address questions that were raised during his Master’s dissertation. Part of this work was published in Journal of American Academy of Audiology (2002). During his residency at McGill University, he served as a faculty lecturer and clinical supervisor of audiology  for 3 years.

His main area of research interest includes multi-frequency tympanometry Wide Band Reflectance, and acoustic reflex studies in adults as well as newborns. To review my complete curriculum vita please click here
